Isabelle grew up between the lavender fields of Provence and the smoky souks of Marrakech — two worlds that taught her scent is the most honest language. After a decade crafting fragrances for the world's most storied maisons, she walked away to build something entirely her own: a house where no brief, no trend, and no compromise would ever dilute the truth of a scent.

Essence & Obsidian was founded on a single conviction: that a truly great fragrance should feel inevitable — as though it always existed and you simply found it. We reject the disposable, the derivative, and the diluted. Every formula we release has been lived with, argued over, and refined until nothing remains but the essential.
The Craft
How a Scent Is Born
Sourcing
We travel to origin — Grasse for rose absolute, Madagascar for vanilla, Oman for frankincense. Every raw material is selected by hand, from growers we know by name.
Composition
Isabelle works in silence, building accords across weeks. A formula may go through forty iterations before a single drop is shared outside the atelier.
Maceration
Every finished concentrate macerates for a minimum of eight weeks — far beyond industry standard — allowing the molecules to marry and the character to deepen.
Bottling
Each bottle is filled, sealed, and numbered by hand in our London studio. No batch exceeds five hundred units. Once it is gone, it is gone.
